Launch of the 2011 Online Annual Return

Posted on: 28/12/2011

The 2011 Annual Return is now available on the Accountancy Board website. As from this year, the annual return (for warrant holders and firms) and the CPE return (for warrant holders who are not MIA members) may be submitted electronically and annual registration and QA regulatory fees settled online.

All warrant holders who do not have an e-ID are requested to obtain it as soon as is conveniently possible. For more details on how to register your e-ID, please click here and then click on ‘Register for an e-ID’ found on the left hand side of the webpage.

The online submission of the annual return brings with it a number of benefits to the user, as follows:

  • Submission and payment can be made from the comfort of the user’s home.
  • The process is user-friendly and involves a number of straightforward steps.
  • Information filled in on each step will be saved online for later reference or later submission.
  • Most of the information will be uploaded automatically from information submitted in last year’s annual return, therefore the user would only be required to fill in changes to that information.
  • Information submitted this year will also be available on next year’s online annual return.
  • A receipt notification (including a PDF copy of the annual return) will be forwarded automatically by email, providing proof of online submission.
  • The deadline for online submissions and online payments is being extended to 31 March 2012 (whereas the deadline for submissions by postage mail and payments by cheque is 31 January 2012).

Please note that, as from this year, submissions by email will no longer be accepted. You will also be unable to complete the submission of the annual return unless the electronic payments to settle the registration fee and the regulatory fee (if applicable) are made concurrently with the electronic submission of the annual return. For this reason, unlike previous years, the registration fee of EUR23.29 will no longer be collected by the Malta Institute of Accountants on behalf of the Accountancy Board but will be paid electronically when submitting the annual return.

All warrant holders and firms are encouraged to use the new system for the submission of the 2011 Annual Return. To access the online annual return, please click here.
